I’m Sara Bierer, an independent Chartered Educational Psychologist with nearly 30 years’ experience across both the private and state sectors. I’m warm, nurturing and deeply committed to understanding your child’s strengths and needs, and to helping you navigate what can often feel like a complex system. My career has always centred around children. I began as a primary school teacher in London and Madrid before qualifying as an educational psychologist in 1997. For 25 years, I worked within a Local Authority team, supporting children in early years, mainstream and specialist settings. I became a Senior Specialist EP for Early Years in 2006 and later a Senior EP, gaining extensive insight into SEN systems and decision-making processes. 

 

My early years specialism included working in a multi-disciplinary EP and CAMHS team, supporting families and developing projects that promoted attachment, learning and early identification of needs. I continue to love working with young children, while also assessing children and young people aged 2–18.

 

Alongside this, I supervised EP colleagues and trainee EPs, completed IPSEA legal training (Parts 1–3), and developed a strong understanding of how to advocate effectively for children and families.

 

In my independent practice, I bring together all of this experience with a clear belief: children deserve to be understood, and parents deserve support and clarity. When your child is struggling — academically, socially or emotionally — it can feel overwhelming. Through consultation and assessment, I help you make sense of what’s going on and identify the right next steps. 

 

I’m also a parent of two almost-adult children, and many of the concerns you may be facing are ones I’ve navigated myself — both professionally and personally.

 

More recently, I’ve developed a close partnership with the West Hampstead Child and Young Person Clinic, a compassionate multi-disciplinary team supporting children, young people and families. When needed, I can also signpost you to trusted professionals in other disciplines.
